One of DigitalFabric's biggest problems was that its strong technical capabilities were hidden behind a complex installation and maintenance process that required extensive technical support. Unlike modern SaaS products that you can just sign up for and start using immediately, DigitalFabric required a "hand-held" onboarding, trainings and adjustments.
Because it combined multiple third-party tools, a complex middle layer was required to tie all of them together. Unfortunately for the the overall user experience, this middle-layer was driven by the development abilities of the team and not the necessities of the user.
When the team decided to rebuild the platform from the ground up, it created the perfect opportunity to research and design an experience-focused product with cohesive branding that could appeal to mid-market customers, not just large enterprises.
